Overview

As part of Gamekit’s goal to enter the premium PC peripherals market, I led the end-to-end design, production, and launch of a tempered frosted glass gaming mousepad with a protective carry case. The product was built to deliver precision tracking, durability, and a high-end feel for competitive gamers and creative professionals.

Challenge

  • Identify a differentiated entry point into a saturated gaming peripherals market.

  • Deliver a “gaming-grade” experience while justifying a premium price point.

  • Coordinate international manufacturing from Shenzhen, China, while ensuring quality control.

Approach

Market Research & Validation

  • Conducted gap analysis and SWOT analysis to identify underserved demand for high-durability, low-friction mousepads.

  • Facilitated semi-structured interviews with target users (competitive gamers, graphic designers, developers) to validate product concept.

  • Produced personas, customer typologies, and usage scenarios to inform design priorities.

Product Development

  • Designed frosted tempered glass surface for smooth tracking, optimised for both optical and laser mice.

  • Added protective corner bumpers to prevent chipping during use or transport.

  • Developed a custom protective carry case with high-density foam inserts for safe shipping and portability.

  • Produced CAD wireframes and technical specifications for manufacturer.

Manufacturing & Logistics

  • Built long-term supplier relationships with Shenzhen-based manufacturers.

  • Oversaw prototype iterations, quality assurance, and production scaling.

  • Managed 3PL logistics, ensuring safe, cost-efficient global shipping.

Sales & Distribution

  • Sold directly via online storefronts and indirect distribution channels.

  • Managed brand identity, product photography, and marketing campaigns.
